Important Information about the Retreat on November 7 - 9, 2008
On Friday, November 7, 2008, we will depart from the church at 4 p.m.. We plan on returning on Sunday, November 9, 2008 around 2:30 p.m..
We will stop at Golden Coral in Frederick for supper. It is an all-you-can-eat buffet with a great salad bar and several meat and veggie choices. Bring $13 to pay for your dinner and drink. You will not need money for anything else during the retreat.
During the retreat we will be outside for extended times, (hikes, campfire and ropes course) so please bring warm clothes and good, sturdy walking shoes or boots. It is best to plan on layering clothing in case you get too warm. It is always easier to remove a layer to cool down that to take a heavy coat off.
We will be staying in a retreat house with several small bedrooms and two large (one male and one female) bath and shower rooms. Bring your own bed linens and blankets or sleeping bag.
Important things to bring:
Bible
Warm Clothes for extended periods outside
Sturdy Walking Shoes
Bed Linen and Blanket or sleeping bag
Towels
Soap, Shampoo, Toothbrush and Toothpaste and other such items
Appropriate Sleep Wear for “mixed company”
Prescription Medication
Pen/pencil and notebook
What not to bring:
Axe and other spray-on body fragrances
Important Information:
1. We will not be the only group using the retreat center the weekend we are there. Please be considerate of other groups. Do not go into the cabins or buildings being used by other groups. There are common areas that will be available for us to use that people from other groups may be using as well.
2. We will use the ropes course, go on a hike and have a campfire, so please make sure you have clothes and shoes that are appropriate for the weather that weekend.
3. No males are allowed in the female sleeping quarters and no females in the male quarters. However, we will be getting together before lights out, so please have appropriate sleep wear for “mixed company.” Everyone must also follow curfew and lights out rules.
4. There will be several group sessions and group events. There will also be free-time during the retreat.
5. Adult leaders must know where prescription medications are stored in case of an emergency, especially if the youth usually carries an “EpiPen” or inhaler.
6. We are on retreat to learn and to enjoy the company of our fellow Christians. Please keep this in mind during the weekend.
7. Phones, Ipods, games and all other electronic devices use will only be allowed during freetime.
8. Did I mention that you should bring warm clothes and good, sturdy shoes since we will be going on a hike, doing a ropes course, and having a campfire?

Baptized and Called
Members of the Confirmation Class attended the “Baptized: Now What?” event at Faith Lutheran in Arlington, VA. At this event the confirmands learned about the relationship between their baptism and their vocation - or calling. They learned what it means to be a part of the Body of Christ, how one can use their God given gifts for the good of God’s kingdom, and how a few young adults have answered their call.
